Run an Analysis
Analysis Flow is Moby’s AI-powered tool for dataset analysis. Upload one or more Excel/CSV files, describe your question in plain language, and Moby produces reviewable result tables you can export.
When to use Analysis Flow
Use Analysis Flow for:
- Variance analysis (actual vs budget)
- Outlier / anomaly detection
- Trend analysis (YoY, MoM)
- Consistency checks on large listings (journals, GL extracts)
If your starting point is PDFs/Word documents, use Extraction or a Test of Details first.

Create an analysis

- Go to Analysis Flow in the sidebar
- Click New Analysis
- Describe what you want to analyze (in plain language)
- Select your dataset files
- Review the AI-generated plan
- Click Run
Example prompts
Variance analysis:
"Compare actual expenses to budget and explain variances greater than 10%"
Anomaly detection:
"Find unusual transactions compared to historical patterns"
Trend analysis:
"Compare revenue by product category year-over-year"
Review and export
- Open the completed analysis
- Review intermediate tables and the final output
- Export results to Excel (or CSV for very large outputs)
Be specific
Good prompts include what to compare, thresholds (e.g., 10%), and any filters (period, account, entity).
