Verify faster with grounding

Grounding is Moby's visual proof feature — showing exactly where extracted values came from.

How grounding works

When you click on an extracted value, Moby highlights the exact location in the source document where it found that value. This is called grounding — visual proof of the source.

The grounding view shows:

  • The source document (PDF preview)
  • A highlighted bounding box around the extracted text
  • The ability to zoom and navigate the document

Using grounding effectively

  1. Click on any cell in your TOD results
  2. The document preview opens with the value highlighted
  3. Verify the value is correct and in the right context
  4. Move to the next cell to continue verification

Add grounding manually

If grounding is missing, you can add it yourself:

  1. Click on the cell with missing grounding
  2. In the PDF preview, click Select grounding (or use the selection tool)
  3. Draw a box around the value in the document
  4. The grounding is saved automatically

This creates visual proof just like automatic grounding.

Speed up verification

Use keyboard shortcuts to navigate between cells and documents quickly. Tab moves to the next cell, keeping the grounding panel open.
